Washing your organic wool coat

Updated: Mar 11, 2019

Organic Wool

To ensure the longest durability and best quality of your garments, follow our wash guide and tips for all types of garments.

Organic wool is produced in a way which protects the life of the animals and ensures little to no environmental impacts. Wool is made by spinning fibres of animal fleece, most commonly from sheep, when their thick winter coats are shorn in the warmer months. The dense fuzzy yarn creates a natural barrier to wind and even some water resistance.

Washing and after care tips

  • The natural protective coating of wool fibres makes it resistant to dirt and dust, theres no need to wash wool garments are every single wear. Instead we suggested hanging them to ventilate between wears.

  • Pills occur naturally with friction and can be easily removed with a pilling comb or fabric shaver.

  • When it does come time to wash use a gentle detergent to hand wash or use a gentle machine cycle at 30 degrees or less.

  • Dry knitted woollens fast on a towel to prevent them from stretching out of shape.

  • Its best to store wool pieces folded and flat once they have been aired.
